Silhouette Soft® Thread Lift

A threadlift is a minimally invasive procedure that gives patients a moderate lift and volumizing effect to the face, cheeks, neck, and jawline. The Silhouette Soft threadlift is a type of threadlift that has additional cones along the thread to further lift the facial tissue for more noticeable improvement. Silhouette Soft is manufactured by the same company that makes Silhouette Instalift. The difference between the two products are the materials used to create the thread and cone structures. The Silhouette Soft thread is made from Polylactic Acid (PLLA) while the cones are made of poly (L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA). Silhouette Instalift sutures and cones are both made from PLGA. 

Prior to treatment, the patient's face and neck area will be marked to indicate insertion and exist point for the threads. Each thread will require one central insertion point and two exit points. All marks will be infiltrated with a local anesthetic. Once thoroughly anesthetized, a small incision will be made in the center of each central insertion point so that the needle can easily be guided beneath the skin.

Each Silhouette Soft thread is inserted in two parts. The needle will be inserted into the center insertion mark and guided linearly to the previously marked exit point. The needle will be forced through the skin and pulled outwards, pulling half of the thread through the face. The second half of the thread will be inserted through the same center point and again, threaded linearly though the skin and out the pre-determined exit point. Excess thread will be trimmed. This process will be repeated for every thread. Once all threads have been placed, the provider will massage the face so that the cones are able to properly attach and lift the tissue. 

Results are noticeable immediately after treatment, however, final results will be more apparent after several months. Stimulated collagen production will gradually improve facial volume, firming the skin, and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. Inserted threads will eventually dissolve with effects lasting for as long as 18-24 months depending on lifestyle.

- Avoid blood thinning medications
- No alcohol for 1 week prior
- No smoking 1 week before

Before Treatment

- Local anesthesia
- Needles are inserted into the area to be lifted
- Threads are inserted through the needles
- Barbs along the thread act as cogs to grasp, lift and suspend the skin
- Needle is withdrawn and tissue is 'gathered' over the thread
- Excess thread is cut

During Treatment

- Discomfort
- Do not touch or wash the face for 12 hours
- Limit facial motion for 24 hours

Immediately After Treatment

- Non-strenuous activities can be resumed in 1 day
- Eat soft foods or drink liquids for 7-10 days 
- Resume normal activities as tolerated

1-7 Days After Treatment

- Full activity can be resumed in 1 week
- Avoid strenuous activity for 2-3 weeks

1-3 Weeks After Treatment and Beyond

- Results improve over time as collagen production is encouraged
- Maintenance treatments every 18 months
